I want to attract and retain the qulified workforce we need!

Copenhagen has to be attractive to international residents!

Copenhagen is already home to almost 100,000 international residents from all over the world, who contribute every day to the city’s operations and green transition. To continue this development, I want to make the city even more open and welcoming, so that newcomers quickly feel at home and can see the potential of making Copenhagen their new home.

I want to attract and retain the qualified workforce we need

To support the city’s growth and development — and the companies that choose Copenhagen as their headquarters — I will focus on attracting talented employees from abroad. At the same time, I will ensure that the international residents who are already here continue to feel included and have access to the opportunities the city offers.

I will also work on:

  • Establish a hands-on welcome
I want to strengthen International House Copenhagen so that new international residents receive a personal and competent welcome. This will help them quickly feel at home and more easily navigate everything from job opportunities to housing and childcare.
  • Strengthen cooperation with international companies
By involving companies as a link between the municipality and the residents they recruit, we can create a closer community and better integration for international employees.
  • Focus on spouses and partners
I want to make a special effort to support the spouses and partners of international residents, as many face challenges in the job market and daily life. Good networks and job opportunities for the partner are crucial for whether the family chooses to stay in Copenhagen long term.
  • Improve the integration of international children
I will provide additional language support in daycare institutions and schools, as well as mentoring schemes and tailored leisure activities. When children thrive and can easily find their way, it creates the foundation for the whole family to feel at home in Copenhagen.
